Project Overview
The Roki Collection Hotel in Queenstown represents a highly complex civil and structural enabling works project, delivered within one of New Zealand’s most environmentally and commercially sensitive locations.
Moore Construction was engaged to deliver the earthworks, deep foundation systems, and retaining structures required to support the development. The project demanded careful coordination, technical precision, and strict adherence to resource consent conditions due to its proximity to Lake Wakatipu.
Engineering & Retaining System
The retaining solution incorporated a combination of cantilevered and anchored bored pile walls, supported by shotcrete infill and reinforced concrete elements.
This integrated system enabled the safe excavation of a large site footprint while maintaining structural integrity in variable ground conditions, including glacial till and schist bedrock.
Construction Delivery
The works involved the installation of 135 bored piles ranging from 450mm to 900mm diameter and depths of up to 16 metres, socketed into schist bedrock.
In addition, 45 inclined micro piles were installed at 30 degrees to provide further stability to the retaining structure.
Excavation of approximately 6,500 cubic metres of material was undertaken, followed by sequential piling, shotcrete application, and installation of capping beams, walers, and permanent anchors.
Collaboration & Delivery
Moore Construction worked closely with key suppliers including Firth Concrete and Complete Reinforcing to ensure high-quality materials and timely delivery throughout the project.
Our in-house workshop capabilities enabled efficient fabrication and maintenance of specialised drilling equipment, supporting productivity and precision on site.
